Under 16’s (2) vs Market Harborough 11/12/11

Sunday 11th December 2011

Corby Netball Club 16 Market Harborough 10

Under 16’s played very well considering the team have only recently played together. We scored in the first minute with a great goal from Neve. Heather followed up by scoring our 5th goal. Sophie was very consistent in her role of Captain and Centre. Shammah and Martha saw off their opponents in defense. Abigail showed her skills as WA. Lara came into her own the 3rd and 4th quarter of the game. She was chosen by Rosemary as Player of the Match. For her first game Ruby played really well. The final score reflected how tough the game was and how much the girls deserved their win. Well done girls. Latika

High 5 Team 3 vs High 5 Team 2 - 13/11/11

Wednesday 7th December 2011

Corby Team 3 = (3) and Corby Team 2 (7)

I am very proud of High 5's Team 3, they are starting to show great ability and determination on court. Finding space when required and learning to pass the ball with great strength. Some players are already showing great improvements at this early stage of the season - and the team is learning to work together.

Captain of Team 3 was Emily H who showed so much motivation throughout the game. Well done to Emily C on scoring the first point for her side, it was a super goal and gave the team a boost so early on. Also well done to Amelia who went on to score a further two goals. To Keely for playing for Team 4 beforehand and then giving a 110% as well to her game with Team 3.

Although the players must all rotate between positions at this age and level, Rikkia showed a lot of dedication and fearlessness when playing in defence. The partnership between Amelia and Kaitlin whether it was in defence or attack was a joy to witness - knowing where the other one was and always striving to find space for the following pass.

U16s CNC v Cougars 13.11.11

Tuesday 15th November 2011

A brilliant start for the U16's game against Kettering Cougars. With a 10 goal head start for the opposition, the girls managed to win the first quarter 12-11. Great play was seen by Abi (GS) and Eleanor (GA) who consistently applied their winning shooting techniques throughout the match.

This was obviously going to be an easy win for Corby so to up the game at the start of the 2nd qtr it was decided to increase the ‘head goal start’ to 25 for Cougars. Unperturbed the Corby Girls took on the challenge.

Interceptions in the following quarters by Holly (GD) Nina (WA) and Abi (GK) allowed the score to keep rising for Corby. Continuing the trend - the strong defence tactics from Tara (C) and Charlotte (WD) worked well bringing the final score to 52-29. An impressive win for Corby – well done!

Under 14's 13.11.11

Sunday 13th November 2011

Corby U'14 played their first match of the season against Market Harborough and lost 22-11. The girls started off strong and were leading for the first quarter but MH's strong defence coupled with some lovely shooting lead to a disappointing end to their first game. Millie was excellent in Centre and was supported strongly by Vanessa (WA). Hannah G (GA) was in top form scoring 10 and worked well with Jess (GS) who scored 1. Thanks to Lauren C, Ashton, Alex and Deborah for filling in for the late arrivals. Good effort girls keep it up!

Player of the match Hannah G Congratulations

Corby U12's v Cougars (42 - 5)

Sunday 13th November 2011

What a start to our Winter Season! Corby 42 Cougars 5

The first time you have played together as a team and what a team you are! It was a pleasure to watch such smooth and skilful play. The awareness you had of each other’s strengths and positions on court was so obvious. Classic teamwork. Keep it up girls.

Choosing a player of the match is such a difficult job, it could have gone to any one of you today. In particular, Lauren C (c) opened up the play and held the attack and defence together with such ease. Ashton (GD) dominated our defence and broke up any attack made by Cougars, supported well by Deborah (GK) and Alex (WD). Kyra and Nicola who shared WA played confidently and assisted in our attack. Our awesome shooters; Lauren G (GS), her movement in and around the D was fast and precise, scoring many goals; Becca (GA and Captain) How many goals? I started to lose count after your first 35! Always in the right place at the right time.

Player of the Match – Lauren C. Congratulations.
